Membership

Q: My friend or family member wants to pay for my membership. Do they have to come in as well?

Yes. Anyone who is to be charged for tanning services or products must be present to give their initial authorization. Once they have given us their initial authorization for the monthly membership charges, they will not be required to visit us again (unless they want to tan, of course).

Q: I was told that I had to wait 24 hours to tan again… is that true?

Yes. Texas State Law prohibits anyone from tanning more than once within 24 hours. We have both legal and software restrictions that will not allow us to tan you again until at least 24 hours from the last time you tanned. Unfortunately, this is not something we have control over. Keep in mind that this law applies to UV beds only, and not a UV Free Mystic tan.

Q: Can my friend or family member share my membership or credit package?

No. Due to State & Federal Laws, only one person is allowed to tan on an account at a time so that the dates & times of each tan by that specific person may be tracked as required by law. Unfortunately, you cannot share or split your credits with anyone else.

Q: What is Mystic Tan?

It’s a private, self-contained system that employs a patented revolutionary spray-on process that uses sweeping side to side airbrush motion, and MagneTan® Technology, to apply uniform amounts of Mystic Tan Tanning Myst™ to the entire body in just seconds.

The Mystic Tan System utilizes personal single use cartridges and additives that can be blended to create the perfect combination for all skin types and desired results.

Q: What is MagneTan® Technology?

MagneTan application technology is Mystic’s patented process that uses the human body’s own magnetic properties to attract Mystic Tan Tanning Myst™ to every exposed surface of the skin. When genuine Mystic Tan Tanning Myst passes through the patented spray nozzle, the micro-particles of myst are polarized, taking on the characteristics of “tiny magnets.” These particles adhere evenly, and in a precise uniform amount to the exposed skin to create a smooth, even, natural-looking tan.

Q: Why does Mystic Tan give you the best tan?

The secret is in our premier application process. All of our booths come equipped with MagneTan™ technology, which uses your body’s own magnetic properties to attract Mystic Tan Tanning Myst™ to every exposed surface of your skin. When the Tanning Myst passes through the spray nozzles in a Mystic Tan booth, the micro-particles of Tanning Myst become polarized, taking on the characteristic of ‘tiny magnets.’ When you stand on the MagneTan plate in a Mystic Tan booth, the particles adhere evenly to the entire surface of your skin. The result? A consistently smooth, natural-looking tan.

The MyMyst™ System

For a style as unique as you are, choose the MyMyst System. The latest in sunless design, The MyMyst™ System combines the proven consistency you trust from Mystic Tan with true airbrush motion, providing incredibly smooth coverage and the best tanning results. The MyMyst System allows you to select from a variety of individual tanning cartridges: Original with NutraMist™ or Premium with NutraMist™ Plus in BronzMyst™ or ClearMyst™ formulas. Now, you can get a variety of skincare treatments right in the booth, choose from RevitalizingMyst™, ReplenishingMyst™, or RefiningMyst™. Add one of our MysticAroma fragrances to create a truly personalized Experience.

The AHA RefiningMyst™ Complex is an alpha-hydroxy formulation that uses natural fruit acids to exfoliate the skin. Mystic Tan says this treatment sets the stage for a subsequent UV or UV-free tan, or can serve as a stand-alone skincare regimen.

The ReplenishingMyst™ Complex is an antioxidant- and vitamin-enriched formula featuring ingredients such as Aloe vera, green tea and vitamin E to help soothe skin and replenish moisture lost during the UV-tanning process. The complex is designed for use after UV-exposure. It is also ideal as a ‘cool down’ service for UV-tanners.

The RevitalizingMyst™ Complex provides many skin benefits, and includes anti-aging, antioxidant and vitamin-enriched ingredients. Mystic Tan developers are calling this a ‘spa treatment in a bottle’ because of its multi-benefit components — including collagen, elastin, vitamin E and green tea.

Plus, Mystic Tan has created MysticAroma, an aromatherapy additive available in Vanilla Creme, Desert Bloom and Coconut Lime scents, which can be added to a Mystic session for a blast of fragrance.

Q: Will the Mystic Tan turn me orange?

No! Contrary to the famous Friends episode, the Mystic Tan will not turn you orange. The Mystic solution is a clear DHA, which oxidizes your skin to turn it a natural tan color. So, you will turn to whatever color you naturally tan. We also offer options for using the Mystic tan: light or dark, clear or bronze, etc. Please see your local store for more details.

Q: I streaked when I used the Mystic Tan. Why did that happen, and how can I prevent it from happening

Usually when anyone streaks from the Mystic it is from one of a few reasons:

  • Your skin may have been too dry. The Mystic Tan is designed to spray you evenly. However, the solution is naturally attracted to and will absorb more into dry areas. It is best to exfoliate and moisturize before you use the Mystic tan, to help even the skin tone and even moisturize your skin. It will also help to do a ‘Mystic Cocktail’ instead of one single session to enhance your color.
  • You may have been moisturizing with a product that contains oil. Anytime you moisturize with certain oils, there will be patches of your skin that are oilier than others. The oils will prohibit that area of skin from absorbing the solution properly, and as much as the other areas.
  • You may have not dried off completely. Your body can only absorb so much solution, and is designed to be a ‘quick dry’ so that it is absorbed quickly. However, everyone’s skin surface area is different. So, more than likely you will have excess solution on you when you get out of the booth. It is important to dry off completely, as if you were getting out of the shower, to remove all excess solution from your skin.

Also, be sure to be careful when putting on the Barrier Cream. If you get the cream in an area you did not intend to, you will not get any Mystic solution in that area.

Q: What is a Mystic Cocktail?

A Mystic Cocktail is the ultimate tanning experience, and provides the best tanning results possible. This entails tanning in a bed for anywhere from 5-10 minutes, and then hopping into the Mystic booth immediately afterwards.

Tanning in a regular bed with lotion first will achieve three things: you will build your base tan, open your pores, and even moisturize your skin. Then, hopping in the Mystic booth afterwards will add a more attractive, healthy glow on top of your tan by preparing you for the best results.

Q: Why would I need to tan with indoor tanning lotion? When I went to tan, I was told it was important.

One of the primary purposes for using indoor tanning lotions is to moisturize the skin. Unlike sunscreen or what is commonly called suntan lotion, indoor tanning lotion is designed to amplify the effects of ultraviolet rather than block them. This is usually accomplished by using ingredients that promote the production of melanin or by increasing the blood flow to the skin, thereby increasing the amount of melanin that is brought to the top layers of the skin. It is also important to switch up your lotion to continually stimulate your skin and enhance your results.

Q: What if I buy a product that I don’t like anymore, can I exchange it for another one?

We do not allow any refunds or exchanges on products.

Q: How do I know if I should be tanning with a BRONZER or TINGLE lotion?

Lotions that contain bronzers are a wonderful option to help enhance your tanning results. Single Bronzers have a cosmetic bronzer in the lotion to help you tan naturally, and also add a bronze highlight on the surface of your skin. Dual Bronzers have both this cosmetic bronzer, as well the same DHA that is in the Mystic tan solution. So, you get triple results by tanning naturally, allowing the DHA to oxidize your skin to deepen the color, and by adding a cosmetic bronzer to the surface of your skin.

WHEN USING ANY BRONZER BE SURE TO RUB THE LOTION IN COMPLETELY AND EVENLY AND WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER TANNING TO PREVENT ANY STREAKING OR DISCOLORATION

A’tingle’ lotion is a lotion that contains Niacin. This helps to stimulate the blood flow, which helps to boost your tanning results. You will be very red when you leave (and you will feel a tingle), which will fade as time passes. This is a great lotion for anyone who has hit a plateau with their tanning and need to break through it.

DO NOT USE TINGLE LOTION IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN!

Tanning

Q: Are there any age limits to tanning?

  • Anyone under the age of 18 is not allowed to tan by law with the exception of spray tan.  These persons under the age of 18 can spray tan with us with the following exceptions:
  • Any person under 18 years of age has to have one of their parents/guardians come in with them to sign a consent form.
  • Any person under 14 has to be accompanied by a parent/guardian each time they come in to tan as well as sign a consent form.
  • Any person under 13 has to have a note from a physician and be accompanied by a parent/guardian each time they come in to tan as well as sign a consent form.

Q: What do I need to bring with me if I want to start tanning at SunPoint Tanning Center?

If you have never tanned with us before, you will need to bring a valid picture ID with you. If you are under 18, you will also need to bring a parent with you. We also require you to provide a credit/debit card or voided check if you plan to sign up for a monthly auto-billed membership.

Q: I can only come before or after I go to work. Will you be open then?

Yes! Our store has convenient hours for all of our customers. We do close for major holidays, and will post a notice of any changes on the front door of each store ahead of time.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment to tan?

No. Each location has roughly 10 beds available to help prevent you from having to wait when you come in. So, there is no need to call ahead to schedule an appointment… just come & go as you like!

Q: I’ve heard that tanning is bad for you. Is this true?

Tanning provides a wealth of benefits! For more details and scientific research, please visit www.tanningtruth.com. Keep in mind that we also offer UV-Free tanning alternatives, which is a wonderful option in place of or in addition to tanning in our regular tanning beds. Please see our store for details.

Q: I have been given an exclusive offer coupon/card to get some free tans. How do I use them?

This offer gives you a free ‘test drive’ of SunPoint Tanning Center. The free tans can be used by anyone who has never tanned at SunPoint Tanning Center before.

Q: Why am I always asked if I have my goggles?

State and Federal Law both require that you wear proper protective eyewear when tanning. We sell both regular and temporary goggles at each of our locations. Your eye lids are too thin to block out the UV rays, and they can penetrate a towel so it does not help to just cover your eyes either.

Q: I was told that I could not take my child in the tanning room with me. Why is that?

Under State and Federal Law, you are not allowed to have any other person in the room with you when you are tanning. This includes children. We do enforce these laws as requested, and apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.

Q: I left something in the room that I tanned in last time. How can I see if someone found it?

Anytime we find anything in the rooms, we keep the item in our store’s Lost & Found. Either call or visit the store where you might have left the item and they will be more than happy to search the Lost & Found for you.

Q: Can I tan if I have a tattoo?

Yes! Be sure to cover your tattoo with an SPF product to help prevent any fading. We offer a Tattoo Balm Stick that will help you accurately ‘draw’ the SPF over your tattoo to also help prevent any tattoo tan lines.

Freeze or Cancel

Q: What happens to my account and monthly charges when I am on the Freeze Program?

You can keep your account frozen for as long as you want. You will be charged $5/month during the time you are frozen. Once your account is reactivated, you will get the $5/month that you successfully paid back as in-store credit.

Q: How do I reactivate my account if I am on the Freeze Program?

You may request to reactivate in person by signing a Reactivation Form. In-store credit may not be used to pay for your dues.

Q: What procedures do I need to follow to cancel my membership?

You can visit us in person at any of our store locations to sign the Cancellation Form. We do not accept any requests verbally, or via fax or email. Cancellation requests will not be accepted if there is a current balance on your account.

Q: When will my membership end after I submit my cancellation request as stated above?

You are required to give 30-day notice prior to the first day of your last billing month. For example: To be canceled out for the end of February, SunPoint Tanning Center would have to receive your signed cancellation request by January 31st . If your request is submitted after January 31st, your last billing month will then be in March and you will be able to utilize your membership through the end of that month.

Q: What happens to my unused points when I cancel?

Your points will remain on your account until used. If you like you can use your in-store credit to purchase any regularly priced products or services in our stores at anytime. You may also make a one-time transfer of ALL unused points to someone else after you leave. Please visit one of our stores for more details.

Purchases

Q: What are SunPoint Tanning Center in-store credits and how do I use them to purchase something?

In-store points may be used to purchase regularly priced products and services. They cannot be used to pay for any membership dues, and cannot be used to purchase any sale or promotional items, in combination with any other discounts.

Credits

Q: How do the point packages work?

Point packages can be used to tan in any bed that we have available at the store, and can be used whenever you like! The easiest way to describe points is to compare them to the tickets at the State Fair. You buy a package of tickets, and you redeem so many tickets for each ride. The bigger the ride, the more tickets it takes to ride it. Each one of our tanning beds requires a certain amount of points to tan in them. The higher levels of beds require more points than the others.

Q: Can I share my point package with friends?

Points can be split between friends and family.

Q: What are SunPoint Tanning Center in-store credits and how do I use them to purchase something?

Credits can be applied and used on anything in the store including products and points.
